Committees

As a member of MSOT, you can help build, promote and strengthen occupational therapy in Manitoba by joining one of the many MSOT committees and getting actively involved.

Executive Committee

The Executive Committee provides direction and coordinates the work of the entire MSOT organization. This includes developing a strategic plan and approving an annual budget for the organization, providing direction to volunteers and staff working on behalf of MSOT and reporting to MSOT members on the work of the organization.

Communications Committee

The Communications Committee manages the communication strategies of MSOT by providing oversight to both the Website Committee and the Newsletter Committee. The Communications Committee monitors the work of all MSOT committees to better coordinate the flow of information to members and relevant others.

Newsletter Committee

The Newsletter Committee is a sub-committee of the Communications Committee, responsible for producing an informative and timely newsletter six times per year. The newsletter is a vehicle to inform the membership about MSOT executive functions and responsibilities, as well as current projects and upcoming events. It updates members on current events, conferences/workshops and pertinent research/articles. It advertises products, employment opportunities and events.

Website Committee

The Website Committee is a sub-committee of the Communications Committee that oversees the development and updating of information on the MSOT website. This ensures the information needs of MSOT members, the MB public and others, regarding the organization and occupational therapy practice in the province are continuously met.

Nominating and Awards Committee

The Nominating and Awards Committee actively recruits to fill each vacant office on the MSOT Executive and assists in identifying additional volunteers for committees. The Nominating and Awards Committee also strives to promote the profession of Occupational Therapy by means of awards of recognition to occupational therapists and occupational therapy students in Manitoba.

Public Relations Committee

The Public Relations Committee promotes and educates the general public and other key audiences about the profession of Occupational Therapy, the Manitoba Society of Occupational Therapists and the role MSOT plays in the lives of Manitobans.

Professional Development Committee

The Professional Development Committee promotes ongoing learning for occupational therapists in Manitoba. The committee coordinates continuing education courses, provides support to interested groups and develops resources for MSOT members and oversees the Member Resources Lending Library. Members can access a list of resources held here MSOT Lending Library Resources.pdf.

Special Events Committee

The Special Events Committee is responsible for coordinating the many MSOT events held each year. These include the MSOT annual general meeting, the New Grads and Awards Celebration and the annual golf tournament as well as other special functions and events.

Archives Committee

The Archives Committee collects and organizes MSOT materials to maintain a comprehensive history of the organization and the profession in Manitoba. In addition, the Archives Committee prepares submissions to the Provincial Archives of Manitoba on behalf of MSOT. For more information about the Archives Committee click here.
