MSOT membership helps strengthen the occupational therapy community within Manitoba and enables us to initiate growth and respond to changes within our profession. The MSOT membership year runs from June 1 to May 31. Current MSOT members will receive an annual renewal package in the mail. Those who are currently not members and wanting to register with MSOT, should complete the appropriate category new member application form found below in the “How to Join” section.
All categories of membership are required to renew their registration on an annual basis. MSOT membership renewal can be found on the COTM registration renewal form – please indicate the appropriate membership category. The following documents comprise the 2016 – 2017 MSOT Registration Renewal Package:
MSOT has a number of different membership options, each with its own advantages that reflect the different roles occupational therapists play in the community.
To be eligible for Active Membership, you must be a graduate of an occupational therapy education program in Canada accredited by CAOT or from an occupational therapy program outside of Canada recognized by WFOT.
The Associate Membership option is for retired occupational therapists who previously held active registration with MSOT. Associate members have the right to attend meetings, be voting members and to hold office in the Society and serve on committees.
Affiliate Membership is for individuals who work in a role assisting occupational therapists in their practice as well as for individuals, groups or organizations interested in the OT profession [Conditions apply. For more information, e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org or phone (204) 957-1214].
New grads from the University of Manitoba program may take advantage of a discounted membership rate until the end of the registration year.
Occupational therapists and OT students living outside of Manitoba can also become part of MSOT as a means of staying informed and connected to developments within Manitoba. (Out of Province members have different levels of access, rights and responsibilities.)
Students enrolled in the Masters of Occupational Therapy program at the University of Manitoba qualify for a FREE membership with MSOT for the duration of their academic studies. MOT students are eligible to receive a link to a digital copy of the MSOT Update newsletter. Each September, students are asked by MOT Student Reps to indicate their interest in obtaining a student membership and receiving MSOT emails by subscribing to an MSOT email list.
