Regulation of Occupational Therapy
As with any health care profession, occupational therapy is highly regulated to ensure quality service, ethical practice and professional standards are maintained at all times.
Members of the Manitoba Society of Occupational Therapists adhere to The Occupational Therapists Act of Manitoba and the regulations it contains. This Act is public protection legislation.
The College of Occupational Therapists of Manitoba (formerly the Association of Occupational Therapists of Manitoba) regulates the practice of occupational therapy in Manitoba through administration of The Occupational Therapist Act. This involves the registration of qualified individuals and investigation of complaints involving COTM members. Contact COTM by calling (204) 957-1214 or emailing OTinfo@cotm.ca, or visit the COTM website at www.cotm.ca.
